learn to sew. Well, I want to. I've done a little in my past and would like to pick it up. Anyone have sewing machine advice? I want something cheap but don't want it to break a month after using. I've been looking at the
brother LX3125 14-Stitch. Anyone own one? I like the price, very basic, and good reviews. Advice and recommendations are welcomed, thanks!

Kelda, is this the machine they have at Costco? I have a friend who has her degree in clothing design and she recommended the machine at Costco as a good beginning model. I think it was a brother. That's all I know. I still sew on the machine I got when I was sixteen. It's practically an antique now!
I looked it up and there is a brother one that is a 25-stitch machine - only $10 more too! Thanks for the tip Marie!
So I minored in clothing construction at BYU and our professors were pretty adament about Bernina's. I love mine.
It's a bit pricier, but it will last you forever. Plus, it guarantees even stitches and is incredibly easy to sew on.
I have a no name brand sewing machine, Janome- Sew Precise. I hadn't heard of before, but I got a great deal..buy one get one free and I have loved it. Sewing is a ton of fun but I haven't done any since Easton was born. By the way, CONGRATS on the baby! That is SO exciting! I'm really happy for you.
I have a Bernia Yes it was expensive and I probably sacrificed alot of other things in order to get it. I still use it occasionally, otherwise you could borrow it.

Sorry I'm replying over here. I never quite know the correct etiquette for blogging.
Anyway, yeah I minored in it. For a while I considered it as a major, but I'm a big nerd and liked doing research too much.
I considered applying to FIT while I was out here, but with the kids it wasn't very doable. When they are older I may try to do NYU's historical costume masters and be a museum curator.
I haven't made anything impressive lately. Again, the two boys. But I tailor clothes if I have time or will do quick things like pillows, leg warmers, curtains, etc.
If you need any websites with easy sewing projects for babies I know a billion. Just let me know.
Happy Anniversary you two! I'm glad you officially announced cuz I couldn't keep my mouth shut for too much longer ;) I'm excited for you. We were in the same boat...about to start fertility testing... and then whalah!! Here she came! Your anniversary looked very adventurous and beautiful! Love it! Oh and yes, I have the brother LS-1717, a much cheaper version and I do just fine making everything I want to. Although, there are times I wish I had more stitch options, so if you are going with more options, I would do the same...Mine was a gift otherwise I totally would have. It's a good starter. It won't be too long 'til you're wishing you had a serger though. Good luck! Can't wait to see the creations you're gonna make!
