Kitchen Cabinets

I'm pretty much finished with the top cabinets.  Just need to finish installing the hardware.  I'm waiting on the bottom because we're going to replace the counter top and I'd hate for my paint job to get ruined.  I've had a few people ask how I'm doing it so I'll explain on here but I'm also gonna recommend you do it another way =)

I primed with behr undercoat primer and sealer and zinsser 1.2.3 primer.  I starter with behr and switch to zinsser because I ran out of behr and had some 123 at home.  Anyways,  did one coat of primer, and 3 coats of behr paint plus primer in benjamin moores moonlight white.  I used a spray painter on the cabinet doors and a brush on the cabinets.  This is all water based which in reality is what I should be using because I'm so not careful when I paint and get paint everywhere; plus I wanted to use my paint sprayer and wasn't sure if I could with oil paint.  Then I sealed it all with minwax finishing wax paste.  oh and I had a moment of craziness and decided to paint the inside of two of the cabinets...then I realized I was crazy so stopped after those two haha.

Ok, with that being said I wish I had waited a little while longer because missmustardseed.blogspot.com painted her kitchen not to long after I started and just shared on her blog what she did and I really wish I would have used what she did.  She used zinssers 123 primer, and benjamin moore's oil based paint in white.  I wish I had gone with a straight white, I used a creamy white and I think white would have looked a lot nicer.  Also, with oil based paint you don't have to use a sealer and I believe it can handle more abuse than water based.  So if you haven't started your kitchen project yet, do what she did, not what I did - unless you hate oil based paint.  For a second I thought of redoing mine...for a second ;)

oh and we both used a deglosser before priming.  I scuff sanded a little then used the deglosser.  I don't think you really have to sand at all though when you use a deglosser.

what's sad is her kitchen is big and she started after me and is completely done!  I only finished half my kitchen and it's small.  She must not sleep!
